On the Road

We hit the road bright and early Tuesday morning at 6AM. David wanted to make the drive in one day.  I was a little skeptical, but trying to be an encouraging wife said sure we can try. We did not have any traffic issues except for Concord Mills outside of Charlotte, but even then it was not too bad.

We made our first stop at Chick-fil-A for breakfast. As we made our way into Atlanta, we noticed police cars everywhere. Every few exits had cop cars just waiting for people to pull over. We saw at least 6 police cars on the side of the highway set up for a speed trap. Needless to say, David slowed down through Atlanta.  We quickly made our way through South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

I enjoyed crossing the Mississippi River.  Kinda cool to see.

We looked for the cast of Duck Dynasty as we passed through Monroe, Louisiana. No luck!  When we finally made it to the Texas boarder, it was quite a relief. We were getting so close and sleepy.  An hour from our hotel it started to down pour.  David drove like a champ through the rain and being so tired (he drove most of the trip).  Pulled into the hotel at 10pm central time. A total of 17 hours on the road.

We were staying at a hotel until we could move into our apartment.  We both slept 10 hours that night...we were tired! The trip was long and tiring, but I'm so glad we did it in one day.

Packing Up and Moving Out

My parents drove from Kentucky to Raleigh last Wednesday to help us pack and then take back some furniture to their house.  On Thursday, we hit the ground running packing boxes and moving stuff to our storage unit. When we started this process, I thought we just had some stuff to put in boxes and move the couches, bed, and table.  What felt like 1000 boxes later and MANY trips to the storage unit, we were making progress. We have way more stuff than I realized.  We worked all day Thursday and Friday. My parents headed out early Saturday morning with a bed in my dad's truck and the 4runner full of a dresser and quilts. They were a huge blessing through this moving process!

On a side note...the 4runner over heated about 25 miles from my parents house and had to be loaded on a trailer to make it home. Sorry Mom and Dad!

On Saturday, we met the newest addition to the Hall family.  David's brother Will and his wife Angela gave birth to baby Hudson about a month ago.  This was the first time we were able to see them.  He is adorable and looks like his older brother Cooper!

Took a break on my birthday to eat lunch with friends at my favorite restaurant Lucky 32.  It's AWESOME!! So thankful for great friends!

We finally finished loading the storage unit Monday and it's full! We said goodbye to the house and headed to Greensboro to spend the night.

Drum Roll Please....

David and I are excited to announce that we will be moving to Plano, TX for his first assignment.  The store is located in the Willow Bend Mall.  As far as we know, we will be there for 2 months.  Let the journey begin!

Finding A New Comfort

Before David and I begin this new adventure on the road, I want to give a HUGE shout out and thanks to our friends in Raleigh-Durham.  While I am excited to start this new chapter, I am sad to be leaving so many remarkable people.  You have helped me become a better wife, friend, coworker and follower of Jesus.  You have shown me so much love, encouragement, generosity, hospitality, kindness, and even how to be a good parent.  You have been an enormous blessing in my life.

I am so thankful to be a part of this community of believers in Raleigh.  I feel like we have seen a bit of heaven on Earth in RDU as we have lived life with you.  I also want to thank the Summit Church for following Christ and pushing me do the same.  I greatly appreciate how the church is always pointing to Jesus and his love and grace.

Life in Raleigh has been fun, entertaining, exciting, and comfortable.  When I think about how much life is getting ready to change, I am reminded that life is about to get really uncomfortable and unknown.  Because of this, I’ve begun to find comfort that Jesus is holding my future and he is holding me through this journey.  Jesus knows what is ahead, so all I have to do is follow.

Raleigh-Durham it's been awesome!!! See ya soon!!
